Ali al-Makk
Ali al-Makk was a highly regarded short story writer and literary critic in Northern Sudan. Born in Omdurman, al- Makk was educated during the last decades of joint Anglo-Egyptian rule in Sudan, and came into his own as a writer in the late 1950s. Over his lifetime, he published numerous short story collections, wrote columns in a number of influential cultural journals and newspapers across the Arab world, and travelled widely to teach and study.
