Isa al-Hilu
Isa al-Hilu was born in Kosti, a city on the White Nile around 200 miles south of Khartoum. He published his first collection of short stories, The Parrot’s Feathers, in 1963. Since then he has become one of the pioneers of the short story in Sudan. He has published six collections of short stories and four novels. His most recent novel, Nightmares and Roses, was published in 2013 by Dar Madarek. As well as writing fiction he writes frequently for the Sudanese press.
